Ingredients

1 pre-made pie crust (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

3 large eggs

1 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup sweetened shredded coconut (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).

Prepare the Pie Crust: Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish and crimp the edges if desired. Pre-bake the crust for about 8-10 minutes, or until lightly golden, then remove from the oven and set aside to cool slightly.

Mix the Filling: In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and salt until well combined.

Add Eggs: Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth.

Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Gently fold in the chocolate chips, nuts (if using), and shredded coconut (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the mixture.

Pour Filling into Crust: Carefully pour the chocolate chip mixture into the pre-baked pie crust, spreading it evenly.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the center is set but slightly jiggles when lightly shaken.

Cool and Serve: Allow the pie to cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before serving. Cut into wedges and enjoy warm or at room temperature. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat!
