Ingredients

6 large eggs (preferably organic)

Ice water (for cooling)

Salt (optional, for seasoning)

Vinegar (optional, for peeling ease)

Instructions

Prep the Eggs: Start by placing your eggs in a single layer in a pot. Avoid stacking to ensure even cooking.

Add Water: Fill the pot with cold water until the eggs are submerged by about an inch.

Bring to a Boil: Place the pot over medium-high heat and cover it with a lid. Allow the water to reach a rolling boil.

Timing the Boil: Once boiling, promptly remove the pot from heat but leave the lid on. Set a timer for your desired doneness:

          - Soft-boiled: 4-6 minutes

            - Medium-boiled: 7-9 minutes

              - Hard-boiled: 10-12 minutes (for fully set yolks)

Prepare the Ice Bath: While the eggs are cooking, fill a large bowl with ice water. This will help stop the cooking process.

Transfer to Ice Bath: When the timer goes off, carefully transfer the eggs to the ice bath using a slotted spoon.

Cool Completely: Let the eggs chill in the ice water for at least 5-10 minutes. This not only stops the cooking but also makes peeling easier.

Peel the Eggs: Gently tap the eggs on a hard surface to crack the shell, then roll them lightly to loosen. Start peeling at the wider end where there is usually an air pocket. If you added vinegar, this should make peeling smoother.

Serve or Store: Season with a pinch of salt and enjoy immediately, or store in the refrigerator unpeeled for up to one week.
