Ingredients

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 cup buttermilk (or milk with 1 tablespoon lemon juice)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons milk

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional toppings: Sprinkles, chopped nuts, or shredded coconut

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan with non-stick spray.

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.

In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; some lumps are okay.

Transfer the batter into a piping bag or a zip-top bag with the corner snipped off. Pipe the batter into each cavity of the donut pan, filling them about 2/3 full.

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the tops are golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

While the donuts cool, prepare the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth.

Dip the cooled donuts into the glaze and place them back on the wire rack. If desired, sprinkle your choice of toppings on the glazed donuts immediately.

Serve warm or at room temperature and enjoy!
