Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

2 tablespoons honey

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for brushing)

Optional: Sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions

Activate the Yeast: In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk with the instant yeast and honey. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it bubbles slightly, indicating the yeast is active.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt.

Combine Ingredients: Pour the melted butter and eggs into the yeast mixture. Mix well. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic. You can also use a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment for this step.

First Rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

Shape the Rolls: Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, close together.

Second Rise: Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise again for about 30-40 minutes, or until they puff up and touch each other.

Preheat the Oven: While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Bake the Rolls: Once the second rise is complete, bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until they are golden brown on top.

Brush with Butter: Remove the rolls from the oven and immediately brush the tops with softened butter. If desired, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top for added flavor.

Cool and Serve: Allow the rolls to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy them warm with butter, jam, or your favorite spread!
