The Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

A delightful twist on a classic dish.

Ingredients

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature

3/4 cup granulated sugar

3/4 cup packed light-brown sugar

1 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

2 large eggs

2 cups semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips

1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, light-brown sugar, and salt on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, continuing to mix until fully incorporated.

Combine Dry and Wet Ingredients: Slowly add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed just until combined.

Fold in Chocolate Chips: With a spatula or wooden spoon, gently fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using) until evenly distributed.

Scoop Dough: Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers are still soft.

Cool: Once baked, remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Enjoy: Serve warm or store in an airtight container for up to one week!
