Ingredients

1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled to room temperature

2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)

1 cup heavy cream

8 ounces mascarpone cheese, softened

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

24 ladyfinger cookies

Unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting

Dark chocolate shavings for garnish (optional)

Instructions

In a shallow dish, combine the cooled brewed coffee and coffee liqueur (if using). Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.

In another bowl, mix the mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined. Be careful not to deflate the whipped cream.

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

In a rectangular or square dish, arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom.

Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers, smoothing it out evenly.

Repeat the layers with another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture.

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight.

Before serving, dust the top with unsweetened cocoa powder and garnish with chocolate shavings if desired.
