Ingredients

3 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast

1 cup warm milk (110°F or 45°C)

¼ cup granulated sugar

2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

1 tsp salt

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 tbsp fresh dill, chopped (or 2 tsp dried dill)

1 egg (for egg wash)

1 tbsp sea salt (for topping)

Instructions

Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Make a well in the center.

Combine Mixtures: Pour the yeast mixture and melted butter into the well, followed by minced garlic and chopped dill. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.

Knead Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. You can sprinkle more flour if the dough is too sticky.

First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Shape Rolls: Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and place them on a greased baking sheet, leaving space between each roll.

Second Rise: Cover the rolls with a cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes, or until puffy.

Preheat Oven: During the second rise, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Egg Wash: Beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the rolls. Sprinkle with sea salt for added flavor.

Bake: Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Cool: Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly on a wire rack. Serve warm and enjoy the squishy, garlicky goodness!
