Ingredients

8 ounces spaghetti

1 pound ground beef or turkey

1 small onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (15 ounces) marinara sauce

1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, drained

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup ricotta cheese

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Cook the Spaghetti: Boil a large pot of salted water. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Brown the Meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground meat. Sauté until browned. Drain any excess fat.

Add Vegetables: Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

Combine Ingredients: Stir in the marinara sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 5 more minutes.

Mix in Spaghetti: In a large bowl, combine the cooked spaghetti and the meat sauce mixture, ensuring the spaghetti is well coated.

Layer the Casserole: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spread half of the spaghetti mixture. Dot with half of the ricotta cheese, then sprinkle with one cup of shredded mozzarella. Layer the remaining spaghetti mixture and finish with the remaining ricotta and top with the rest of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

Bake: Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
