Southern-Style Biscuits & Sausage Bake

A delightful twist on a classic dish.

Ingredients

1 pound breakfast sausage (spicy or mild, your choice)

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup heavy cream

1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (flaky style)

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon salt

¼ cup chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, crumble and cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked, about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat and set aside.

Prepare the Egg Mixture: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, eggs, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt until well combined.

Cut Biscuits: Open the biscuit dough and cut each biscuit into quarters. You can also tear them into smaller pieces for a rustic look.

Layer the Bake: In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, evenly spread the cooked sausage, then scatter the biscuit pieces on top. Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the biscuit pieces.

Add Egg Mixture: Pour the egg and cream mixture evenly over the layers in the baking dish, ensuring all biscuit pieces are soaked.

Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and the egg mixture is set in the center.

Garnish and Serve: Once baked, let the dish cool for a few minutes, then sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving.
