Ingredients

2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 large onion, sliced

1 red bell pepper, sliced

1 green bell pepper, sliced

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup chicken broth

2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

8 ounces provolone cheese slices

4 hoagie rolls

Optional toppings: hot sauce, mayonnaise, or sautéed mushrooms

Instructions

Place the sliced onion, red pepper, and green pepper at the bottom of your slow cooker.

Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Place the chicken on top of the veggies.

In a small bowl, mix the chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, and minced garlic. Pour the mixture over the chicken and vegetables.

Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is cooked thoroughly and tender.

Once cooked, shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker using two forks. Stir to mix all the ingredients well.

About 15 minutes before serving, place the provolone cheese slices on top of the shredded chicken mixture, re-cover, and let the cheese melt.

Meanwhile, split and lightly toast the hoagie rolls in a separate oven (optional).

Once the cheese is melted, use a ladle to scoop the chicken and cheese mixture into the toasted hoagie rolls.

Optionally, you can add hot sauce, mayonnaise, or sautéed mushrooms to add extra flavor.

Serve immediately with your favorite side, such as chips or a salad.
