Ingredients

1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Begin by blanching the green beans: In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add a generous pinch of salt. Add the trimmed green beans and cook for 2-3 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.

Drain the beans and immediately transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Let them cool for about 5 minutes, then drain again and set aside.

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted and bubbling, add the minced garlic, and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned.

Add the blanched green beans to the skillet. Toss to coat them in the garlic butter. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).

Sauté the green beans for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until they are heated through and slightly tender.

Remove from heat, stir in the fresh lemon juice, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if desired.

Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
