Ingredients

1 batch of red velvet cake (9-inch round)

2 cups cream cheese frosting

3 cups whipped cream (homemade or store-bought)

1 cup strawberries, sliced

1 cup raspberries

1 cup chocolate shavings (dark or white chocolate)

Optional: Edible gold leaf for decoration

Instructions

Prepare the Red Velvet Cake: Bake a red velvet cake according to your favorite recipe or box instructions. Allow it to cool completely. Once cooled, cut the cake into 1-inch cubes.

Whip the Cream: If using homemade whipped cream, beat the heavy cream in a mixing bowl until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar and vanilla extract, continuing to beat until stiff peaks form. Gently fold this whipped cream into the cream cheese frosting until well combined.

Layer the Trifle: In a large glass trifle bowl or individual serving glasses, start by placing a layer of the red velvet cake cubes at the bottom.

Add Frosting Mixture: Spoon a layer of the cream cheese frosting mixture over the cake cubes, spreading it evenly.

Fruit Layer: Add a layer of sliced strawberries and raspberries on top of the frosting.

Repeat Layers: Repeat the layers (red velvet, frosting, and fruits) until the bowl is filled, ending with the cream frosting layer on top.

Final Touch: Finish with a generous layer of whipped cream on top and sprinkle with chocolate shavings. Optionally, you can add edible gold leaf for an elegant touch.

Chill & Serve: Cover the trifle with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld. Serve chilled, and enjoy the delightful layers of this Valentine’s treat!
