Ingredients

2 tablespoons olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 can (14.5 oz) crushed tomatoes

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

1 cup vegetable or chicken broth

1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Parmesan cheese, grated (for serving)

Instructions

Sauté Aromatics: In a medium-sized saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped onion. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

Add Tomatoes: Stir in the crushed tomatoes, ensuring to scrape any browned bits off the bottom of the pan.

Season: sprinkle in the dried oregano, dried basil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix well.

Incorporate Broth: Pour in the vegetable or chicken broth and balsamic vinegar. Stir to combine.

Simmer: Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer. Reduce the heat to low and allow it to cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally. The sauce should thicken slightly.

Adjust Seasoning: Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.

Serve: Pour the sauce over your freshly cooked ravioli. Garnish with fresh basil leaves and a generous sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese.

Enjoy: Serve immediately and enjoy the delicious flavors of your homemade ravioli sauce!
