Ingredients

1 loaf of French bread (thinly sliced)

1 cup marinara sauce or pizza sauce

1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese

½ cup sliced pepperoni or any preferred toppings (bell peppers, olives, mushrooms, etc.)

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

½ teaspoon garlic powder

Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)

Olive oil (for drizzling)

Salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). This will ensure your French bread pizza bakes evenly.

Prepare the Bread: Slice the French bread in half lengthwise, creating two long pieces. Place them cut side up on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Spread the Sauce: Evenly distribute the marinara or pizza sauce over the cut sides of each half of the French bread. Use a spatula or the back of a spoon for smooth coverage.

Add Cheese and Toppings: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the sauce. Top with your choice of toppings, such as pepperoni, bell peppers, olives, or even some cooked sausage for added flavor.

Season: Sprinkle the Italian seasoning and garlic powder over the toppings. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Drizzle with Olive Oil: Lightly drizzle olive oil over the topped bread for added flavor and moisture.

Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden, and the edges of the bread are crispy.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool for a minute. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before slicing into individual servings. Serve hot and enjoy!
