8 oz (225g) whole wheat pasta (penne or rotini work great)

2 cups broccoli florets

1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts, diced

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper, to taste

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup chicken broth (or vegetable broth)

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)

Lemon zest, for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. In the last 3 minutes of cooking, add the broccoli florets. Drain and set aside.

    Cook the Chicken: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced chicken and season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook for 5-7 minutes, until the chicken is browned and cooked through.

      Add Garlic: For the final minute of cooking the chicken, add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until fragrant.

        Combine Ingredients: Add the cooked pasta and broccoli to the skillet with the chicken. Pour in the chicken broth, tossing everything together gently to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
