Pizza Grilled Cheese

Ingredients
  

4 slices of sourdough bread

4 tablespoons of unsalted butter, softened

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup pizza sauce

1/4 cup sliced pepperoni (or your favorite toppings)

1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for added heat)

Fresh basil leaves (for garnish, optional)

Instructions
 

Prepare the Bread: Take two slices of sourdough bread and spread 1 tablespoon of softened butter on one side of each slice.

    Assemble the Pizza Layer: On the unbuttered side of one slice, spread a generous amount of pizza sauce. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese on top, followed by the sliced pepperoni, and sprinkle Italian seasoning and garlic powder over it. Add any additional toppings if desired.

      Add Cheese: Layer the remaining mozzarella cheese on top of the toppings.

        Top It Off: Place the second slice of bread (buttered side up) on top of the cheese and toppings. Repeat the process for the second sandwich using the other two slices of bread.

          Grill the Sandwiches: Heat a skillet over medium heat. Carefully place both assembled sandwiches into the skillet. Grill for about 3-4 minutes or until the bottom side is golden and crispy.

            Flip and Cook: Gently flip the sandwiches and grill the other side for another 3-4 minutes, pressing down slightly with a spatula to help the cheese melt.

              Finish and Serve: Once both sides are golden brown and the cheese is melty, remove the sandwiches from the skillet. Allow them to cool for a minute, then cut them in half on a diagonal. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired and serve with additional pizza sauce for dipping.
