Ingredients

1 cup long-grain white rice (like Basmati or Jasmine)

2 cups water

1 tablespoon olive oil or butter

¼ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

Optional: 1-2 tablespoons of lemon juice or herbs for flavor enhancement (parsley, cilantro)

Instructions

Rinse the Rice:

    - Place the rice in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse it under cold running water for about 2-3 minutes. This will remove excess starch and help prevent clumping. Allow it to drain well.

      Toast the Rice (Optional):

        - In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil or butter over medium heat. Once hot, add the rinsed rice. Stir occasionally for about 2-3 minutes until it begins to look slightly translucent and smells fragrant.

          Add Water and Salt:

            - Carefully add the 2 cups of water and the salt into the saucepan with the toasted rice. Stir briefly to combine.

              Bring to a Boil:

                - Increase the heat to high and bring the mixture to a rapid boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low immediately and cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid.

                  Simmer:

                    - Allow the rice to simmer on low heat for about 15-18 minutes. Avoid lifting the lid during this time, as it can disrupt the cooking process.

                      Rest the Rice:

                        - Once the cooking time is up, remove the saucepan from heat but keep the lid on. Let it rest for another 10 minutes. This step allows the rice to steam and achieve that perfect fluffy texture.

                          Fluff and Serve:

                            - After the resting period, remove the lid and gently fluff the rice with a fork. For added flavor, you can stir in lemon juice or freshly chopped herbs at this stage.

                              Enjoy:

                                - Serve your fluffy cloud rice as a perfect side dish or as a base for stir-fries, curries, or grilled meats.
