Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup milk (whole or buttermilk)

1 large egg

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (plus extra for cooking)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Optional toppings: maple syrup, whipped cream, fresh berries

Instructions

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

Prepare Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Mix Wet and Dry: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay. Fold in the chocolate chips.

Heat the Pan: Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease it with a little butter.

Pour the Batter: Use a 1/4 cup measuring cup to pour the batter onto the skillet. Leave some space between each pancake as they will spread slightly.

Cook Until Bubbly: Cook the pancakes for about 2-3 minutes or until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set.

Flip and Finish Cooking: Carefully flip the pancakes and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.

Serve Hot: Serve your chocolate chip pancakes warm, topped with maple syrup, whipped cream, and fresh berries if desired.
