1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup pecans, chopped

1 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)

1/2 cup corn syrup

1 teaspoon maple extract (for added flavor)

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    Mix the Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

      Add Wet Ingredients: Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

        Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just incorporated.

          Stir in Nuts and Chocolate Chips: Fold in the chopped pecans and mini chocolate chips (if using) until evenly distributed.

            Prepare the Pecan Pie Filling: In a small bowl, mix corn syrup, maple extract, and a pinch of salt.

              Create the Cookies: Scoop about 2 tablespoons of cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each dough ball. Flatten the tops lightly with your palm.
