Oreo Balls - Live Well Bake Often

A delightful twist on a classic dish.

Ingredients

1 package (15.25 oz) Oreo cookies

1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for smooth melting)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Sprinkles, crushed nuts, or more crushed Oreos for decoration (optional)

Instructions

Crush the Oreos: In a food processor, place the Oreo cookies and pulse until they become fine crumbs. You can also place them in a zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin if you don’t have a food processor.

Mix with Cream Cheese: In a mixing bowl, combine the Oreo crumbs with the softened cream cheese and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined and a dough-like consistency forms. You can use a sturdy spatula or your hands for this.

Form the Balls: Scoop out about 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll it into a ball. Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Repeat until all the mixture is used up.

Chill the Balls: Place the baking sheet in the freezer for about 30 minutes, or until the Oreo balls are firm.

Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and coconut oil (if using). Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.

Coat the Balls: Take the Oreo balls out of the freezer and dip each one into the melted chocolate, ensuring they are fully coated. Use a fork to lift them out and allow excess chocolate to drip off before placing them back on the parchment-lined sheet.

Decorate: While the chocolate is still wet, add your choice of sprinkles, crushed nuts, or more crushed Oreos for decoration.

Chill Again: Refrigerate the coated Oreo balls for about 15-20 minutes, or until the chocolate has hardened.

Serve & Enjoy: Once set, serve your Oreo balls on a platter or store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to enjoy!
