1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup cornstarch

2 large eggs, beaten

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 cup vegetable oil (for frying)

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

3 cloves garlic, minced

Zest of 1 orange

1 cup fresh orange juice

1/4 cup soy sauce

1/4 cup honey

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions
 

Prep the Chicken: In a large bowl, season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper.

    Dredge the Chicken: In one bowl, mix the flour and cornstarch. In another bowl, place the beaten eggs. Dip each piece of chicken first in the egg, then coat thoroughly in the flour-cornstarch mixture.

      Fry the Chicken: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the coated chicken pieces in batches, frying until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per batch. Remove and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

        Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the ginger and garlic. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Then add the orange zest, orange juice, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Stir well to combine.

          Combine Chicken and Sauce: Allow the sauce to simmer for about 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened. Add the fried chicken pieces into the sauce, tossing to coat evenly.

            Serve: Transfer the orange chicken to a serving platter. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Enjoy your zesty orange chicken with steamed rice or stir-fried vegetables!
