Ingredients

1 box of yellow cake mix

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 egg

1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

4 cups powdered sugar

1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan with cooking spray or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg. Stir until well combined; the mixture will be thick.

Press the cake mix mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust.

In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth.

Add 2 eggs and vanilla extract to the cream cheese and mix until fully incorporated.

Gradually add in the powdered sugar, mixing until smooth and creamy. If you're adding mini chocolate chips, fold them into the mixture now.

Pour the cream cheese mixture over the cake crust in the pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the center is set and the edges are lightly golden. The center may still look a bit wobbly, but it will firm up as it cools.

Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before slicing into squares. Enjoy your delicious ooey gooey bars!
