Ingredients

2 ribeye steaks (about 1 inch thick)

Salt and black pepper, to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 large onions, thinly sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 cups beef broth

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon soy sauce

1 teaspoon fresh thyme (or ½ teaspoon dried thyme)

1 tablespoon freshly chopped parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

Start by seasoning the ribeye steaks generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steaks and sear for about 4-5 minutes per side or until they reach your desired level of doneness (aim for medium-rare).

Remove the steaks from the skillet and set aside on a plate, covering them loosely with foil to keep warm.

In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and cook them over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for about 10-15 minutes until they become soft and caramelized.

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Sprinkle the flour over the onions and mix well, allowing it to cook for 1 minute.

Gradually add the beef broth, whisking constantly until the mixture is smooth. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and thyme. Bring the gravy to a simmer and let it cook for about 5-7 minutes until it thickens slightly.

Return the steaks to the skillet, spooning the onion gravy over the top. Let them simmer in the gravy for another 2-3 minutes.

Serve hot, garnished with freshly chopped parsley.
