Instructions

Prepare the Mozzarella: Begin by freezing the mozzarella sticks for about 30 minutes. This helps them maintain their shape while frying.

Set Up the Breading Station: In three separate bowls, place flour in the first bowl, whisked eggs in the second, and a mix of breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, paprika, salt, and pepper in the third.

Bread the Cheese Sticks: Remove the mozzarella sticks from the freezer. First, coat each stick in flour, shaking off any excess. Then, dip them into the whisked eggs, allowing the excess to drip off. Finally, roll them in the breadcrumb mixture, ensuring they are well-coated. Repeat for all sticks.

Fry the Mozzarella Sticks: In a large skillet, heat about 2 inches of oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the mozzarella sticks in batches, ensuring they're not overcrowded. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Make the Nashville Hot Sauce: In a medium bowl, combine the cayenne pepper, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, vegetable oil, hot sauce, and a pinch of salt. Mix until well combined.

Coat the Mozzarella Sticks: Once the mozzarella sticks are drained and still hot, toss them in the Nashville hot sauce until well-coated.

Serve: Arrange the spicy mozzarella sticks on a serving platter, with ranch or blue cheese dressing on the side for dipping, and garnish with pickles if desired. Enjoy your fiery treat!
