Ingredients

8 slices of white or whole wheat bread

4 tablespoons of unsalted butter, softened

8 slices of sharp cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)

2 teaspoons of garlic powder

1 teaspoon of dried oregano

1 teaspoon of onion powder

1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes (optional for a slight kick)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Bread: Spread 1 teaspoon of softened butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread. This will be the outer side that gets golden and crispy.

Assemble the Sandwiches: On the unbuttered side of four slices, layer two slices of cheese each. Sprinkle a pinch of garlic powder, oregano, onion powder, and red pepper flakes (if using) on top of the cheese. Top with the remaining bread slices, ensuring the buttered side is facing out.

Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the assembled sandwiches on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, flipping the sandwiches halfway through to ensure both sides are golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Serve and Garnish: Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool for a minute. Slice each sandwich into quarters for mini bites. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.

Enjoy: Serve immediately as a delightful appetizer or snack with a side of tomato soup for dipping!
