Ingredients

Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast

1 tsp salt

1/2 cup whole milk (warm)

1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)

2 large eggs

Filling:

1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)

1 cup brown sugar (packed)

2 tbsp ground cinnamon

1 cup cooked bacon (chopped)

1/2 cup pecans or walnuts (chopped, optional)

Maple Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

3 tbsp maple syrup

2-3 tbsp milk (adjust for desired consistency)

Pinch of salt

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt. In another bowl, combine the warm milk, melted butter, and eggs. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.

Roll Out the Dough: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick on a floured surface.

Add the Filling: Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough. In a bowl, mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped bacon (and nuts if using). Sprinkle this mixture over the butter-covered dough, pressing lightly to adhere.

Roll and Cut: Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces and place them cut-side up in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Cover and let rise again for 30-45 minutes.

Preheat the Oven: While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Bake the Rolls: Once the rolls have risen, bake them in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until they are golden brown.

Prepare the Maple Glaze: While the rolls are baking, whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and a pinch of salt in a bowl until smooth. Adjust the consistency with more milk or powdered sugar as needed.

Glaze and Serve: Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool for about 10 minutes before drizzling the maple glaze over the top. Serve warm and enjoy the melt-in-your-mouth goodness!
