Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 large egg

1/4 cup milk

1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

For the Maple Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons maple syrup

2 tablespoons milk (adjust for consistency)

A pinch of salt

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a mini muffin pan or a donut hole pan.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.

In another bowl, combine the egg, milk, applesauce, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Mix well until thoroughly combined.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.

Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin or donut hole pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.

Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Once baked, let them cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

While the donut holes are cooling, prepare the maple glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and a pinch of salt in a bowl until smooth and drizzle-able.

Once the donut holes have cooled, dip the tops into the maple glaze, allowing any excess to drip off. Place them back on the wire rack to set for a few minutes.

Serve the maple-glazed donut holes warm or at room temperature, perfect for breakfast or a sweet snack!
