Ingredients

2 cups milk (dairy or non-dairy – almond, oat, or coconut work well)

1 cup water

2 tablespoons loose leaf chai tea or 2 chai tea bags

2 tablespoons pure maple syrup (adjust for sweetness)

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

A pinch of ground cloves

A pinch of ground cardamom

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Whipped cream (optional, for topping)

Cinnamon stick or whole spices (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Boil Water: In a small saucepan, bring the cup of water to a boil.

Steep the Tea: Once boiling, remove from heat and add the loose leaf chai tea or tea bags. Let it steep for about 5-7 minutes, ensuring a rich flavor.

Heat the Milk: In another saucepan, heat the milk of your choice over medium heat. Keep stirring to prevent it from scorching. You want it hot, but not boiling.

Add Flavorings: Once the milk is heated, stir in the maple syrup, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, ground cloves, ground cardamom, and vanilla extract. Mix well until everything is combined and fragrant.

Combine Tea and Milk: Strain the steeped chai tea (if using loose leaf) into the saucepan with the spiced milk mixture. Stir to combine, letting the flavors meld together for another minute.

Froth (Optional): If you desire a frothy texture, use a milk frother or whisk the mixture vigorously to introduce some air.

Serve: Pour the Maple Chai Latte into your favorite mug. Top with whipped cream if desired and a sprinkle of cinnamon or a cinnamon stick for garnish.
