1 ½ cups granulated sugar

1 tablespoon lemon zest (about 1 large lemon)

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

½ cup sour cream

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (for glaze)

Lemon slices or zest (for garnish)

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    Mix the Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes. Add the lemon zest and blend well. Then, incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, followed by the vanilla extract.

      Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture into the butter mixture, alternating with sour cream and fresh lemon juice, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
