Ingredients

For the Patty Melts:

1 lb ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

4 slices of Swiss cheese

4 slices of rye bread

2 tbsp unsalted butter

For the Zesty Secret Sauce:

1/2 cup mayonnaise

2 tbsp ketchup

1 tbsp Dijon mustard

1 tsp hot sauce (adjust to taste)

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp pickle relish

1 tsp smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Zesty Secret Sauce:

    - In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, pickle relish, and smoked paprika. Mix well until smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.

      Make the Patties:

        - In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined; avoid overmixing to keep the patties tender.

          - Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into patties slightly larger than the bread, as they will shrink while cooking.

            Cook the Patties:

              - Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes on one side until browned. Flip and place a slice of Swiss cheese on top of each patty. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness.

                Assemble the Patty Melts:

                  - Spread a generous amount of the zesty secret sauce on one side of each slice of rye bread.

                    - Place a cheeseburger patty on the sauce-covered side of two slices of bread. Top with the other slice of rye bread, sauce side down.

                      Grill the Patty Melts:

                        - In the same skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Place the assembled patty melts in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown.

                          - Carefully flip the melts, adding the remaining butter to the pan if needed, and cook for another 3-4 minutes on the other side.

                            Serve:

                              - Remove the patty melts from the skillet and let them rest for a minute. Cut in half and serve hot with extra secret sauce on the side for dipping.
