Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup granulated sugar

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup powdered sugar

Optional: Vanilla ice cream for serving

Optional: Chopped nuts for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish with cooking spray or butter.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

Add Wet Ingredients: Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients, then pour in the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Stir until just combined; the batter will be thick.

Incorporate Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Bake the Pie: Pour the batter into the prepared pie dish and spread it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with gooey crumbs (not fully clean).

Prepare the Hot Fudge Sauce: While the pie is baking, in a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium-low heat. Add the remaining chocolate chips and powdered sugar. Stir continuously until the chocolate is melted and the sauce is smooth and glossy. Remove from heat.

Cool the Pie: Once baked, allow the pie to cool at room temperature for about 10-15 minutes. As it cools, it will puff up slightly and sink in the middle, creating a luscious fudge layer.

Serving: Slice the pie into wedges and serve warm, drizzled generously with hot fudge sauce. For an extra treat, top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a sprinkle of chopped nuts, if desired.
