Honey Glazed Ham with Pineapple Rings Recipe

A delightful twist on a classic dish.

Ingredients

1 fully cooked bone-in ham (about 8-10 pounds)

1 cup honey

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup Dijon mustard

1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

1 can (20 oz) sliced pineapple rings (in juice)

Maraschino cherries (optional for garnish)

Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).

Prepare the Ham: If the ham has a thick rind, remove it, scoring the surface in a diamond pattern for better glaze penetration. Place the ham in a large roasting pan, cut side down.

Make the Glaze: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, and ground cloves. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is well combined. Bring to a gentle simmer and let it bubble for about 5 minutes.

Add Pineapple: Remove about 1/3 of the glaze from the saucepan and set aside. Add the pineapple rings (and some of the juice if desired) to the remaining glaze, stirring gently to coat the rings.

Glaze the Ham: Brush the ham liberally with the honey glaze using a basting brush. Reserve some glaze for later.

Bake the Ham: Cover the ham loosely with aluminum foil and bake for about 1.5 to 2 hours. Baste with the glaze every 30 minutes, uncovering the ham in the last 30 minutes to allow it to caramelize.

Add Pineapple Rings: In the last 15 minutes of baking, place the pineapple rings on the ham, securing them with toothpicks if needed. Brush additional glaze over the ham and pineapple rings.

Finish Cooking: Bake uncovered for the remaining time until the ham reaches an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C), about 15-30 minutes more, depending on size.

Garnish and Serve: Once done, remove from the oven and let it rest for about 15-20 minutes before carving. Optionally, garnish with maraschino cherries and fresh parsley for presentation. Serve slices with extra glaze drizzled over the top.
