Ingredients

For the Meatballs:

1 lb (450g) ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)

1/2 cup bread crumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

1 large egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp Italian seasoning

For the Honey Garlic Sauce:

1/2 cup honey

1/4 cup soy sauce

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated

1 tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)

1 tsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)

1 tbsp water (if using cornstarch)

Instructions

Prepare the Meatballs:

    - In a large mixing bowl, combine ground meat, bread crumbs, grated Parmesan, parsley, egg, minced garlic, onion powder, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.

      - Mix until just combined; avoid overmixing to ensure tender meatballs.

        Shape the Meatballs:

          - Using your hands, form the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a lined baking sheet or a plate.

            Cook the Meatballs:

              - Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

                - Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until they are cooked through and browned on the outside.

                  Make the Honey Garlic Sauce:

                    - While the meatballs are baking, prepare the sauce. In a saucepan over medium heat, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, and rice vinegar.

                      - Bring the mixture to a simmer, allowing the flavors to meld for about 5 minutes.

                        Thicken the Sauce (optional):

                          - If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch with water in a separate small bowl until smooth, then add to the sauce, stirring constantly until it thickens (about 1-2 minutes).

                            Combine and Serve:

                              - Once the meatballs are done, toss them in the honey garlic sauce until evenly coated.

                                - Serve warm, garnished with additional parsley if desired, over steamed rice, or on skewers for a delightful appetizer!
