Homestyle Sheet Pan Pepperoni Pizza

A delightful twist on a classic dish.

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast

¾ cup warm water (about 110°F/43°C)

1 tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1 ½ cups marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup sliced pepperoni

Additional Italian herbs (basil, oregano) for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

    - In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

      - In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and Italian seasoning. Create a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.

        - Mix until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.

          Let the Dough Rise:

            - Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

              Preheat the Oven:

                - Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).

                  Shape the Pizza:

                    - Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a greased sheet pan (about 18x13 inches).

                      - Use your fingers to stretch the dough evenly across the pan, reaching the edges. If it resists, let it rest for a few minutes before continuing.

                        Assemble the Pizza:

                          - Spread marinara sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust.

                            - Sprinkle shredded mozzarella generously over the sauce.

                              - Top with slices of pepperoni and additional Italian herbs if desired.

                                Bake the Pizza:

                                  - Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

                                    - Keep an eye on it to avoid over-baking.

                                      Cool and Slice:

                                        - Once done, remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.

                                          - Use a pizza cutter to slice into squares or wedges.

                                            Serve:

                                              - Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil or oregano on top if you like.
