Homemade Mexican Pizza

A delightful twist on a classic dish.

Ingredients

1 large pre-made pizza crust (or homemade dough)

1 cup refried beans

1 cup cooked ground beef or turkey (seasoned with taco seasoning)

1 cup corn kernels (canned, frozen, or fresh)

1 medium red onion, thinly sliced

1 cup diced tomatoes (fresh or canned)

1 cup black olives, sliced

2 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese (or your favorite cheese)

1 teaspoon cumin

1 teaspoon chili powder

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon onion powder

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 jalapeño, sliced (optional, for heat)

Fresh cilantro for garnish

Sour cream and salsa for serving

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 450°F (230°C).

Prepare the Base: Roll out the pre-made pizza crust on a lightly floured surface or use homemade dough if preferred. Place it on a baking sheet or pizza stone.

Layer the Beans: Spread the refried beans evenly over the pizza crust. This will act as a delicious base.

Add the Meat: Evenly distribute the cooked ground beef or turkey over the beans. Sprinkle with cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, and onion powder for added flavor.

Vegetable Time: Layer the corn, sliced red onion, diced tomatoes, and black olives over the meat.

Cheese it Up: Generously sprinkle the shredded Mexican blend cheese over the entire pizza, making sure to cover all the toppings.

Add Heat: If desired, place slices of jalapeño on top for a spicy kick.

Bake: Carefully place the pizza in the oven and bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and slightly golden.

Garnish & Serve: Once out of the oven, allow the pizza to cool for a minute. Garnish with fresh cilantro. Cut into slices and serve with sour cream and salsa on the side.
