Ingredients

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

¼ cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast

½ teaspoon salt

½ cup whole milk, warmed (110°F)

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup honey

¼ cup water

1 tablespoon cinnamon

½ cup brown sugar

¼ cup chopped pecans (optional)

1 tablespoon powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

In a large bowl, combine 1 cup of flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt. In another bowl, mix the warmed milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Slowly add this mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until combined.

      Knead the Dough:

Gradually add the remaining flour until a soft dough forms. Turn it onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.

          First Rise:

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

              Prepare Filling:

In a small bowl, combine cinnamon, brown sugar, and chopped pecans, if using.

                  Roll Out the Dough:

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it into a rectangle, about ¼ inch thick.

                      Add Filling:

Spread a generous amount of honey over the surface of the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture evenly over the top.

                          Roll and Slice:

Starting from one short edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces.

                              Second Rise:

Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, leaving some space between them. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.

                                  Prepare the Honey Glaze:

In a small saucepan, combine honey and water. Heat gently until combined and slightly syrupy.

                                      Bake the Buns:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

                                          Glaze:

After removing from the oven, immediately brush the honey glaze over the warm buns. Allow the glaze to soak in for a few minutes.

                                              Serve:

Dust the buns with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy your sweet and sticky homemade honey buns warm or at room temperature!
