Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup diced cooked ham

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup whole milk

1 tablespoon honey (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish or use a cast iron skillet.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

Gently fold in the shredded cheddar cheese and diced ham until evenly distributed throughout the dry mixture.

In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter and milk together. If using, stir in the honey until combined.

Pour the liquid mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined; be careful not to overmix.

Spoon the biscuit batter into the prepared baking dish, ensuring an even distribution.

Pour any remaining melted butter over the top of the biscuit batter.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.

Remove from the oven, allow to cool slightly, and then serve warm.
