Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

1 cup packed brown sugar

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup sweetened shredded coconut

1 cup chopped pecans

1/2 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the granulated sugar and brown sugar until well combined.

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips, shredded coconut, and chopped pecans.

Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the batter.

Spread the remaining brownie batter over the caramel layer and drizzle the rest of the caramel sauce on top.

Use a knife or skewer to create swirls of caramel on the surface of the brownies, if desired.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 15-20 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Serve and enjoy your rich, gooey German Chocolate Brownies!
