Ingredients

2 lbs chicken wings, split into flats and drums

1/4 cup soy sauce

1/4 cup honey

2 tablespoons rice vinegar

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

1 tablespoon sliced green onions (for garnish)

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Marinade: In a large mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, ginger, sesame oil, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Whisk until the honey is completely dissolved in the liquid.

Marinate the Wings: Add the chicken wings to the bowl and toss them well to coat evenly in the marinade. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or ideally overnight for maximum flavor.

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup and place a wire rack on top (this helps the wings to crisp up).

Arrange the Wings: Remove the wings from the marinade and let any excess drip off. Arrange them in a single layer on the wire rack. Pour any leftover marinade into a small saucepan and set aside for later.

Bake the Wings: Bake the wings in the preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes, turning them halfway through, until they’re golden brown and crispy.

Prepare the Glaze: While the wings are baking, bring the leftover marinade to a boil in the saucepan over medium heat. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes, or until slightly thickened for a glaze.

Glaze the Wings: Once the wings are cooked, remove them from the oven, and brush the thickened glaze generously over the wings.

Final Broil (Optional): If you prefer extra crispiness, turn the oven to broil and broil the wings for an additional 2-3 minutes, watching carefully to avoid burning.

Serve: Remove the wings from the oven and sprinkle with sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish. Serve hot and enjoy!
