French Silk Brownies

A delightful twist on a classic dish.

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup packed light brown sugar

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup heavy whipping cream

2 tablespoons powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for topping)

Optional: shaved chocolate or chocolate curls for garnish

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan with butter or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Mix well until the sugars are fully incorporated and the mixture is smooth.

Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Gently fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it out evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).

While the brownies are baking, prepare the French silk topping. In a medium bowl, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar together until stiff peaks form. Add in the vanilla extract and mix until combined.

Once the brownies are done baking, allow them to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Once cooled, spread the whipped cream topping evenly over the brownies.

For an extra touch, garnish the top with chocolate shavings or chocolate curls if desired.

Cut the brownies into squares and serve chilled or at room temperature for a decadent treat!
