A delightful twist on a classic dish.

Ingredients

For the Biscuits:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed

3/4 cup buttermilk

For the Beef:

1 lb (450g) thinly sliced roast beef

2 cups beef broth

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 garlic clove, minced

Salt and pepper to taste

1 teaspoon dried thyme

For Serving:

4 slices provolone cheese (optional)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Biscuits:

    - Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

      - In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda. Whisk together to distribute evenly.

        - Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.

          - Gradually add the buttermilk, stirring until the dough comes together.

            - Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead it about 4-5 times until it is smooth. Pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle.

              - Cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter or a glass and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

                Bake the Biscuits:

                  - Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.

                    Prepare the Beef Mixture:

                      - In a medium saucepan, combine the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.

                        - Add the thinly sliced roast beef to the broth and allow it to warm through for about 5-7 minutes.

                          Assemble Your French Dip Biscuits:

                            - Slice the baked biscuits in half. If using, place a slice of provolone cheese on the bottom half of each biscuit.

                              - Use tongs to place a generous portion of the warm roast beef on top of the cheese.

                                - Place the top half of the biscuits over the beef.

                                  Serve:

                                    - Serve the French dip biscuits immediately, accompanied by a small bowl of the warm beef broth for dipping. Garnish with chopped parsley, if desired.
