Easy Turtle Bars

A delightful twist on a classic dish.

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup packed brown sugar

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup chopped pecans

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Mix until smooth.

Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually stir in the flour until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix.

Fold in the chopped pecans and half of the chocolate chips, reserving the other half for topping.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

Drizzle the caramel sauce over the batter, using a knife to swirl it gently into the mixture.

Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top, followed by a pinch of sea salt.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean (a few moist crumbs are fine).

Allow cooling in the pan for about 10 minutes before lifting out using the parchment paper. Let cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into bars.
