When preparing your Easy Slow Cooker Beef and Broccoli Delight, it's crucial to layer your ingredients correctly to ensure even cooking and maximize flavor. Start by placing the beef at the bottom of the slow cooker. This allows the meat to absorb the juices and flavors from the sauce as it cooks. Next, add your vegetables, beginning with the denser ones such as carrots or onions, if using, and topping them with the broccoli. The broccoli should be added later in the cooking process, but if you prefer to layer it in beforehand, keep it on top to prevent overcooking and mushiness.

Ingredients

1.5 lbs flank steak, sliced thin against the grain

4 cups fresh broccoli florets

1/4 cup soy sauce

1/4 cup oyster sauce

2 tbsp brown sugar

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp ginger, freshly grated

1 cup beef broth

1 tbsp cornstarch

2 tbsp sesame oil

1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Cooked jasmine rice, for serving

Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

Prep the Beef: Start by slicing the flank steak against the grain into thin strips. This helps ensure tenderness when cooked.

Mix the Sauce: In a medium bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Whisk well to combine.

Slow Cooker Setup: Place the sliced beef in the slow cooker and pour the sauce mixture over it. Stir to coat the beef evenly.

Add Broth: Pour the beef broth into the slow cooker and give it a gentle stir to mix everything evenly.

Cook: Cover and cook on low for 5 hours or on high for approximately 2.5 hours, until the beef is tender.

Add Broccoli: After the cooking time, add the broccoli florets to the slow cooker. Stir to combine, and cook on high for an additional 30 minutes until the broccoli is vibrant and tender.

Thicken Sauce: To thicken the sauce, mix the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water in a small bowl until smooth. Stir this mixture into the slow cooker and let it cook for another 10-15 minutes until the sauce thickens.

Serve: Serve the tasty beef and broccoli over cooked jasmine rice and garnish with sesame seeds.
