Easy One Hour Cinnamon Rolls Recipe

A delightful twist on a classic dish.

Ingredients

For the Dough:

2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting

2 tbsp granulated sugar

1 tsp instant yeast

½ tsp salt

¾ cup milk, warmed (about 110°F/43°C)

2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

For the Filling:

½ cup brown sugar, packed

1 tbsp ground cinnamon

4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

4 oz cream cheese, softened

2 cups powdered sugar

2 tbsp milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Mix the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 ¼ cups of flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt. Stir until evenly mixed. Make a well in the center and add the warmed milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a dough forms.

Knead: On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, gradually sprinkle in the remaining flour until it’s manageable.

First Rise: Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 20 minutes until it doubles in size.

Prepare the Filling: In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon for the filling. Set aside.

Roll Out the Dough: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle, approximately 12x18 inches.

Add Filling: Spread the softened butter over the entire surface of the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the butter.

Roll the Dough: Starting from one long side, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pinch the seam to seal.

Cut the Rolls: Slice the log into 12 equal pieces. Arrange the rolls in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

Second Rise: Cover the dish with a cloth and let it rise for another 20 minutes.

Preheat the Oven: While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Bake: Bake the cinnamon rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

Make the Frosting: While the rolls are baking, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Frost and Serve: Once the rolls are out of the oven, allow them to cool for 5 minutes, then spread the cream cheese frosting generously over the warm rolls.

Prep Time: 20 minutes | Total Time: 1 hour | Servings: 12 rolls
