EASY FRIED CHEESE BITES

A delightful twist on a classic dish.

Ingredients

1 cup of mozzarella cheese, cut into 1-inch cubes

1/2 cup of all-purpose flour

1/2 cup of breadcrumbs (Panko for extra crunch)

1 large egg

1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon of onion powder

1/4 teaspoon of salt

1/4 teaspoon of black pepper

Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Marinara sauce for dipping (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Cheese: Cut the mozzarella into bite-sized cubes and set aside.

Set up a Breading Station: In three separate bowls, place flour in the first, whisk the egg in the second, and mix breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper in the third.

Coat the Cheese: Take a cheese cube and roll it in the flour, shaking off excess. Then dip it into the beaten egg, followed by the breadcrumb mixture, ensuring it's well-coated. Repeat with all cheese cubes.

Heat the Oil: In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat about 1 inch of oil over medium heat. You can test if the oil is ready by dropping in a small piece of bread; if it sizzles, it’s ready.

Fry the Cheese Bites: Carefully add the coated cheese bites to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Drain and Serve: Remove the bites from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping if desired.
