Ingredients

1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 package (2 sheets) puff pastry, thawed

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

1-2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Optional: fruit preserves (like raspberry or apricot) for topping

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon juice. Mix until smooth and well combined.

Unroll the thawed puff pastry sheets onto a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into squares (about 4x4 inches).

Use a sharp knife to make a border about 1/2-inch from the edge of each square, being careful not to cut all the way through.

Spoon a generous tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture into the center of each square. If desired, add a small dollop of fruit preserves on top of the cream cheese.

Fold the corners of the puff pastry squares towards the center, pinching them to seal. Brush the entire pastry with the beaten egg.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed.

While the pastries are baking, make the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk if needed.

Once the pastries are done, let them cool for a few minutes on a wire rack. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled pastries before serving.
