Ingredients

1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 package (2 sheets) refrigerated puff pastry

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Fresh fruit or fruit preserves (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and well blended.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out each sheet of puff pastry to smooth out creases. Cut each sheet into 4 equal squares.

Place a tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each pastry square.

Fold the corners of each square toward the center to create a diamond shape, pinching the edges to seal well.

Brush the tops of the danishes with beaten egg for a golden finish.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastries are puffed and golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar. Serve warm with fresh fruit or a side of fruit preserves if desired.
