Ingredients

For the Cake:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 ½ cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup buttermilk

For the Pecan Praline Topping:

1 cup brown sugar, packed

½ cup heavy cream

¼ cup unsalted butter

1 cup chopped pecans

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

A pinch of sea salt

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

    Prepare the Cake Batter:

      - In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

        - In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.

          - Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

            - Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix just until combined.

Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.

                Prepare the Praline Topping:

                  - In a saucepan over medium heat, combine brown sugar, heavy cream, and butter. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.

                    - Bring the mixture to a gentle boil and let it boil for about 2 minutes without stirring (this will help achieve the correct consistency).

                      - Remove from heat and stir in the chopped pecans, vanilla extract, and a pinch of sea salt. Let it cool for a few minutes until it thickens slightly.

Finish the Cake: Once the cake has completely cooled, pour the pecan praline topping over the top, spreading it evenly with a spatula.

Serve: Allow the praline topping to set for about 15-20 minutes before slicing the cake into squares. Enjoy your Delectable Southern Pecan Praline Buttermilk Cake with a cup of coffee or as a delightful dessert!
