1 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 cups granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

4 large eggs (room temperature)

1 cup all-purpose flour

¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

2 tablespoons powdered sugar

Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later.

    In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.

      Add the vanilla extract and mix until fully incorporated.

        One by one, add the eggs, mixing well after each addition. Ensure the mixture is smooth and cohesive.

          In another bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, folding gently until just combined.

            Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.

              Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).

                While the brownies are baking, prepare the French silk topping. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the chocolate chips, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

                  In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add the powdered sugar and continue whipping until stiff peaks form.

                    In another bowl, beat the cooled melted chocolate until smooth and glossy. Gradually fold in the whipped cream until fully incorporated and silky smooth.

                      Once the brownies are cooled completely, spread the French silk topping evenly over the top.

                        Refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours to set the topping. Cut into squares and garnish with chocolate shavings or a dusting of cocoa powder if desired.
