Ingredients

For the Cake:

1 box (15.25 oz) vanilla or yellow cake mix

3 large eggs

1 cup water

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

For the Praline Sauce:

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1/2 cup heavy cream

1 cup chopped pecans, toasted

1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Topping:

1 cup whipped cream (or whipped topping)

1/2 cup chopped pecans, for garnish

Caramel sauce, for drizzling

Instructions

Prepare the Cake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large mixing bowl, beat the cake mix, eggs, water, and melted butter until smooth and well combined, about 2-3 minutes. Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking pan.

Bake the Cake: Bake the cake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Once baked, let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.

Poke the Cake: Using the back of a wooden spoon or a fork, poke holes all over the surface of the cake while it’s still warm. Make sure to poke through to the bottom.

Make the Praline Sauce: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, butter, and heavy cream. Stir continuously until the mixture comes to a simmer and the sugar has dissolved. Allow it to simmer for about 3-4 minutes until it thickens slightly. Stir in toasted pecans and vanilla extract.

Drizzle the Praline Sauce: Pour the warm praline sauce evenly over the poked cake, making sure it seeps into the holes. Allow the cake to absorb the sauce as it cools down.

Add the Topping: Once the cake has cooled completely, spread the whipped cream over the top. Sprinkle the additional chopped pecans and drizzle caramel sauce over the whipped cream.

Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the cake for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld together. Slice and serve chilled. Enjoy your decadent butter pecan praline poke cake!
